ITA Airways for Sustainability

The commitment of ITA Airways to promoting female talent in the aviation sector has been the focus of a communication initiative involving the testimonial of Commander Francesca Longhi, the first woman to pass the airline's new Command Courses. On the occasion of Women's Day – 8 March 2022 – her letter dedicated to the dreams of little girls, and to the ambitions and determination of women in pursuing and achieving the goals of their lives, was the subject of a communication campaign in the main national newspapers in Italy.

To promote female leadership within the company, ITA Airways supports the IATA campaign 25by2025, a global initiative to change the gender balance in the aviation sector, and which aims to increase the number of women in top positions and underrepresented areas by 25% or to a minimum of 25% by 2025.

Currently, 33% of the first and second line of ITA Airways employees is female. Women make up 45% of the company's overall workforce.
