ITA Airways for Sustainability

ITA Airways is committed to partnerships with NGOs active in the social sphere, in the prevention and promotion of health, and supports the spread of their initiatives.

ITA Airways supports the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25th November), launched by the United Nations in 1999, when we encourage all our ground and flight staff to actively show their support by coming to work wearing the red symbol. In collaboration with non-profit Fondazione Atena Onlus, an organization that promotes women’s health, the company took part in an awareness campaign called ‘Voliamo lontano dalla violenza’ (Let’s Fly Away from Violence), by giving out a sponsored bracelet in regenerated fabric, made by Made in Carcere (Made in Prison), an association that helps women with convictions make a fresh start in life.

On the occasion of the Race for the Cure – a symbolic event of the Komen Italia association – for the fight against breast cancer, ITA Airways hosted the volunteers of the association, for the collection of registrations for the event.

ITA Airways also supported the week-long, 2022 World Red Cross Day and Red Crescent Day celebrations, by offering discount codes to the Red Cross’s 150.000 volunteers and supporting the charity’s May 2022 communications strategy (newsletter, social media, inflight announcements). Through the Red Cross, we also donated blankets to support the victims of the Marche flood.

With UNICEF a collaboration was set up to support initiatives aimed at combating the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, involving and informing customers through the ITA Airways communication channels (website, social channel and on board its aircraft with dedicated announcements).
