Baggage assistance

The ITA Airways assistance service in Italy to receive all the information you need regarding lost, damaged, or pilfered baggage.

Lost baggage

If your baggage is not delivered, contact the Baggage Assistance Office at your arrival airport to file a Property Irregularity Report (P.I.R.). You will be provided with a copy of this report.
If your baggage has not been located within 45 days of filing the report, it will be declared lost.
In accordance with applicable regulations, you may request a refund by submitting a claim using our contact formThe link will be opened in a new browser tab within two years from the date of the event. Our offices will contact you using the details you provide.
If your baggage is not delivered, contact the Baggage Assistance Office at your arrival airport to file a Property Irregularity Report (P.I.R.). You will be provided with a copy of this report.

If your baggage was delivered late, you may submit a claim within 21 days from the date your belongings were returned by using our contact formThe link will be opened in a new browser tab.
The arrival airport office will contact you as soon as your baggage is found. You may also check the search status through our baggage tracking serviceThe link will be opened in a new browser tab.
If your bag is still missing two days after filing the P.I.R., please send a detailed list of its contents, including the P.I.R. reference number and the corresponding baggage tag:

Damaged baggage

If your baggage was damaged during your journey, please head to the Baggage Assistance Office at your arrival airport for immediate support. Depending on the type of damage suffered and your country of residence, ITA Airways will offer you a voucher for the purchase of ITA Airways tickets or a new suitcase with the same characteristics as the damaged one, chosen from a catalog of a leading luggage brand.

If your baggage was damaged during your trip, please head to the Baggage Assistance Office at the arrival airport immediately to file a Property Irregularity Report.
ITA Airways will provide on-the-spot compensation
at our airport offices, depending on the type of damage, in one of the following ways:

  • an ITA Airways flight voucher1
  • a new suitcase with the same characteristics as the damaged one, chosen from a catalog of a leading luggage brand and delivered to your home2

Is something missing from your baggage?
Please contact the Baggage Assistance Office at the airport immediately and submit a claim within seven days from the date the P.I.R. was filed, or within 21 days from baggage delivery if the pilferage was noticed following delayed delivery.
You may submit a claim using our online formThe link will be opened in a new browser tab within seven days from filing the P.I.R. or 21 days from baggage receipt if pilferage occurred as a result of a delayed delivery. Please ensure you attach copies of the following documentation:


  • Baggage Irregularity Report, issued by the Baggage Assistance Office staff
  • Baggage tag
  • Receipt of the ticket and/or boarding pass
  • Report of tampering filed with the Police Authorities, showing the list of items declared tampered with or missing.

Lost items

Did you leave something behind on an ITA Airways flight or in one of our lounges?

If you forgot an item on board a flight arriving in Fiumicino or in one of our lounges in Rome, please head to our Lost & Found offices in the arrivals area, or contact the Lost Property Service by email at [email protected]The link will be opened in a new browser tab, providing the following information: flight number and date, first and last name, contact details (address, phone number, fax, email), lounge name, and detailed description of the lost item.
Once the item has been located, you can collect it daily from 7 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Fiumicino Lost & Found Office.
Note: Found items are held for 20 days from the date they are found. After this period, they will be transferred to the ADR Lost Property OfficeThe link will be opened in a new browser tab.
