A dedicated check-in desk at Fiumicino station, open daily from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. – including a "Drop-Off" service for those who have checked in online – can be used by all passengers who have a Trenitalia ticket in conjunction with a flight operated by ITA Airways to travel to any destination served by our network.

HOW CAN I BUY COMBINED PLANE + TRAIN TICKETS?

With ITA Airways and Accesrail

Search for the city of departure and your destination, select the class of service, currently only available for flights;

Choose your itinerary and purchase a combined ticket that includes both modes of transport.

You will still have to consult each train operator's Terms and Conditions for the train route. Terms and Conditions of the train transportation are separate and distinct from those of the air transportation.

With ITA Airways and FlexFlight (destination from/to Germany)

Select QYG which represents the identification code for whatever your destination in Germany. When checking in on the train, you will be able to select your desired destination.   The train ticket can be used at any time on the requested date and chosen route. The train journey within Germany can be undertaken from the main German airports, as well as Brussels, Zurich and Amsterdam.

You will still have to consult each train operator's Terms and Conditions for the train route. Terms and Conditions of the train transportation are separate and distinct from those of the air transportation.

CAN YOU PURCHASE A DUAL TICKET FOR A DOMESTIC FLIGHT?

No, you can only use the service for international and intercontinental flights operated by ITA Airways. Domestic routes are not included.

IS IT A SINGLE TRAVEL TICKET?

You will have one combined ticket with two distinct transport sections, one for each part of the trip.

WILL I JUST CHECK IN ONCE?

No, you have to check in twice, separately, and you will be sent two boarding cards, one for the plane journey and one for the train journey.

For your plane trip
You can check in at the airport or online via web and app from 48 hours before your flight departure. For flights to/from the USA, online check-in is only available 24 hours prior to the departure of your flight. 

For your train trip with Accesrail

Log in 72 hours before departure to the Accesrail website, enter your ticket number or ITA Airways PNR and check in. You will then receive the train boarding pass and seats assigned according to the booking class.

For your train trip with FlexFlight

Log into the website https://www.rail-checkin.com/#/login before the train departs, entering the ticket number or ITA Airways PNR and checking in up to 3 hours before the train’s departure. You will then receive the train boarding pass and seats assigned according to the booking class. 

CAN I CHECK IN FOR MY FLIGHT AT THE TRAIN STATION?

This service is available only at Rome Fiumicino Airport train station and is available to all passengers holding a Trenitalia ticket continuing to all destinations within the ITA Airways network, with the exception of flights to the United States of America and Israel.

WHAT TRAIN STATIONS CAN BE REACHED?

The ITA Airways network (excluding domestic flights) will be connected with major Italian and European railway stations. When available, transfer between the train station and the airport is included in the ticket.

AccesRail is a provider that allows you to combine your ITA Airways flight with train routes thanks to intermodal agreements it has signed with several European rail operators.

FlexFlight

FlexFlight is the provider that allows the combined sale of ITA Airways flights with the train routes operated by the rail carrier Deutsche Bahn to Germany.

HOW MUCH DOES TRAIN TRANSPORTATION COST?

The price of train transportation is included in the cost of the intermodal ticket issued by ITA Airways for the entire origin/destination journey, so you will not need to purchase an additional ticket. Additional charges may apply if you wish to purchase optional travel services directly from the train operator.

HOW WILL MY BAGGAGE BE HANDLED?

Your luggage will not be automatically transferred between the train and the plane; you will need to pick up your luggage at the connecting station or airport in order to take it with you on the next leg. 

CAN I EARN VOLARE PROGRAM POINTS?

Yes, but only for the plane trip operated by ITA Airways. 

CAN I USE THE ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE SERVICE?

For the plane trip
If you require assistance, please contact the ITA Airways Customer Center directly.

For the train trip
Additional assistance services in special situations such as travel with unaccompanied minors and pets or service animals depend on the individual rules and regulations of the train operator operating the service.

In addition, travelers who require additional assistance with wheelchairs or other medical equipment should consult the guidelines belonging to the specific train operator.

If you are using a wheelchair or an unaccompanied minor service provided by ITA Airways for your flight, please note that this service is not available outside the airport baggage claim area.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO BOOK SEATS FOR THE PLANE AND TRAIN TRIPS?

For the plane trip

Seat selection is possible when purchasing your ticket online, at ita-airways.com and on our app, through travel agencies, ITA Airways airport ticket offices, or via our Customer Center.

For the train trip

The seat will be automatically assigned upon check-in on Accessrail.com and on https://www.bahn.com based on the chosen destination.

HOW CAN I CHANGE OR MODIFY MY BOOKING?

To modify or change your reservation, please contact the ITA Airways Call Center by contacting from Italy at 800 936090 (daily 6 am - 12 am) and from outside of Italy at +39 06 85960020 (daily 6 am - 12 am CET) or your local Call Center.

If you purchased your ticket at a travel agent, please speak directly to your travel agent.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY FLIGHT/TRAIN IS DELAYED?

Flight delayed
If you miss your scheduled train because of a delayed flight, head to the train company's service desk at the station. A customer service representative will help you make a new booking for the next train.

Train delayed
If you miss your connecting flight due to a train delay, please go to the ITA Airways ticket office at the airport to receive a new airline ticket and to be automatically rebooked on the next flight.

CAN I USE MY VOLARE POINTS?

Yes, for the entire cost of the combined ticket.
