Traveling with children, baggage, and strollers

For younger travelers, baggage rules depend on their ticket type and whether they have an assigned seat.

Infants (up to 23 months)
If an infant travels on a guardian's lap, the guardian can bring an extra bag weighing up to 10 kg. However, if the infant has a Light fare ticket, the guardian is not allowed any additional baggage except a stroller and a small bag.
If the infant has their own seat, their companion is allowed to bring an additional carry-on bag (up to 8 kg) and one checked bag (up to 23 kg).
However, if the infant has a Light fare ticket, the companion is only allowed to bring an extra carry-on bag (up to 8 kg).

Children (2 to 11 years)
For children, the baggage rules are the same as for infants traveling with their own seat.

Note

We support the IATA's recommendation that airlines encourage the use of an approved Child Restraint System (CRS) on board.

We know how important a stroller is when it comes to making your family's adventures easier.
Here's everything you need to know about your stroller for a stress-free getaway:

  • Strollers must be checked-in
  • We only allow foldable strollers to be transported and recommend using a protective bag
  • Each stroller must have a tag with your name, surname, address, and telephone number
  • Strollers can be transported free of charge for children up to 11 years of age for all destinations and travel classes
  • A bicycle trailer stroller can be carried as extra luggage
  • You can use a stroller backpack as a carry-on if its dimensions do not exceed 115 cm (55x35x25). If it's smaller than 45x20x36, you can use it as a personal item.

For flights operated by ITA Airways arriving at and transiting through Italian airports, you can:

  • Ask at check-in to have your stroller returned at the gate or at the aircraft. Please note: Accessories such as canopies or bags should be removed beforehand.
  • Reserve a seat for your little travelers, which includes the same weight, size, and amount of baggage as adults, plus a stroller (the same conditions apply to children between 2 and 11 years).
