If your fare class does not include free seat selection and you decide not to purchase your favorite seat, the system will assign you one free of charge during check-in, based on availability and operational and security policies.

Adults traveling with children between the ages of 2 and 11 (not yet 12) on the same booking may select certain seat types free of charge, depending on the cabin class:

Economy: Back seat
Premium Economy: Classic seat and Duo seat
Business: Classic seat and Duo seat

Adults travelling with infants (under the age of 2) may select certain types of seats for free:

Economy: Back seat and Classic seat
Premium Economy: Classic seat and Duo seat

The assignment of a seat close to the child is guaranteed for at least one of the two parents or for the travel companion.

If online check-in is unable to assign seats next to the child for a parent or guardian, you may contact the Customer Information Assistance Office or go directly to the check-in counters at the airport for assistance in securing adjacent seats.

If you have not chosen your seat at check-in, you will be randomly assigned one for free. If you wish to choose specific seats for greater flight comfort, you can change them by paying for the “Seat Selection” service, unless it is already included in the fare or falls within the free types indicated above.

Passengers with physical, cognitive and sensory disabilities and a travel companion can pre-select seats at no cost by calling our Customer Information Assistance Office, or at the airport (subject to availability). The travel companion's seat will be adjacent to the disabled passenger.

Yes, on all flights operated by ITA Airways. Codeshare flights operated by other carriers are excluded.

  • Seat-only refund (without ticket refund): not applicable.
  • Ticket refund: The seat is refunded in accordance with the terms and conditions of the ticket fare.
    • If the ticket is refundable (even with a penalty), the seat is refunded in full.
    • In the case of a partial ticket refund, the purchased seat is refunded only for the segment refunded on the ticket.

Yes, it is possible under the following conditions:

  • seat change on the same flight
    • Same category: seat change is free
    • Higher category: seat change is allowed upon payment of the category difference
    • Lower category: no refunds
  • flight change (with or without itinerary change)
    • Same category: there are no additional costs
    • Higher category: seat change is allowed upon payment of the category difference
    • Lower category: no refunds

In the event of a change of geographic area, if applicable, payment of the difference is required. If the new seat you have selected is priced lower than the seat already assigned, there will be no refund.

To purchase the seats located at the emergency exits, special requirements must be met:

  • be at least 16 years old;
  • have the necessary physical strength and full mobility, and be able and willing to provide assistance in the event of an emergency evacuation of the aircraft;
  • not use any drug that may affect the qualities described above pursuant to the applicable laws and regulations on safety;
  • be able to understand the instructions in Italian or English for the operation of the emergency exit.

Furthermore, to comply with safety requirements, the seats located at emergency exit rows cannot be occupied by passengers who:

  • have reduced mobility;
  • have visual or hearing impairments;
  • are traveling with infants or children;
  • have luggage positioned on the seat;
  • are clearly pregnant;
  • are traveling with pets in the cabin;
  • are seriously overweight (passengers with limited movements that could hinder access to the emergency exits, who need an additional belt on board).

In addition, hand baggage and all personal belongings must be placed only in overhead locker.
If you do not meet these requirements, you will not be able to use the seat in front of the emergency exits, and you will be assigned a different seat. The price paid for seat selection will not be refunded.
