Traveling Alone: Services for Unaccompanied Minors

To book a flight, issue a ticket, and activate the service, you must contact ​and provide the ​Assistance Team or a travel agency with the personal details and telephone number of the person who will accompany the minor to the departure airport and the person who will pick them up at the arrival airport. For flights with a connecting flight, it is not possible to book the last flight of the day for the minor, except for airports with only one scheduled flight per day. For safety reasons, the person accompanying the minor must remain at the airport until the departure of the flight on which the minor is boarding.

Required documents
Upon check-in, please present:

• A copy of the identification documents belonging to the person accompanying the minor to the airport
• A valid travel document for the minor
• A completed Unaccompanied Minor form "​​AFFIDAVIT " and, in case of international travel of a minor under 14 years of age:
  • For minors under 14 years of age who hold an Italian nationality document, leaving their place of residence requires a Declaration of Accompanying Person signed by their parents or legal guardians and certified by the Police Headquarters (or, abroad, by the Italian Consulate or Embassy). This form must indicate the name of the airline to which the minors are entrusted. The form is available in Italian only
  • For minors with documents of other nationalities (not Italian), it is necessary to check on the website of the Embassy or Consulate of their destination country

Are there any additional costs?
The service for unaccompanied minors incurs a surcharge that varies based on the passenger's destination. ​​Check the rate table here.

The service is available for young travelers aged:

• 14-17 years old on domestic routes
• 15-17 years old on all other routes

You can book the 'Unaccompanied Minor Volunteer' service by contacting our ​Assistance Team. The rates, as well as airport and onboard assistance, are the same as those provided for mandatory unaccompanied minors.

The service is available on flights operated by ITA Airways. The supplement can be paid once the booking for the entire itinerary has been confirmed.

For connecting flights, if ITA Airways must rebook the minor on a different connection than originally purchased, the service will continue to be guaranteed on the new flight.
