Transport of Firearms for Sporting or Hunting Use
The transport of firearms intended for sporting or hunting activities is permitted only in checked baggage and must comply with the following conditions:

1. Mandatory Documentation

• Present all licenses, authorizations, and permits required by national and international regulations
• A completed and signed declaration form is required
• All documents must remain valid and available throughout the duration of the trip

2. Advance Booking

• You must declare the transport of any weapon at the time of booking to get prior approval from the airline

3. Weapons Conditions

• Weapons must be unloaded and, if possible, disassembled (e.g., barrel separated). Security must comply with the instructions of the competent authorities

4. Packaging and Safety

• The weapon must be secured in a passenger-provided container that is hard, durable, and lockable
• Approved materials include wood, metal, rigid plastic, or high-density polystyrene
• Authorized personnel will inspect the container before transport

Transportation of Ammunition
The transportation of ammunition is permitted under the following conditions:

1. Quantity Limits

• You may carry a maximum of 5 kg (11 lb) of ammunition gross weight per person

2. Permitted Types

• Only sporting or hunting ammunition classified as 1.4S, UN0012, or UN0014 is permitted. Incendiary cartridges or bullets are strictly prohibited

3. Ammunition Packaging

• Ammunition must be:
  • Packaged separately from weapons
  • Limited to one package per passenger
  • Stored in a rigid or equivalent container that prevents movement or impact
  • Placed in checked baggage only (carry-on is not permitted)

Toy, Replica, and Imitation Firearms
Toy weapons, replicas, or imitation firearms that resemble real weapons are permitted only in checked baggage and require prior notification and airline approval.

One device per person is permitted, containing a compressed gas cartridge (Division 2.2). The device may also include a pyrotechnic trigger with no more than 200 mg net of Division 1.4S material.

• 100 Wh for lithium-ion replacement batteries

PROHIBITED

Drones are considered electronic devices (PED) and are permitted in both carry-on and checked baggage, provided they remain turned off and securely stowed throughout the flight. If accepted in checked baggage, they must be appropriately packaged, and the batteries must be removed from the drone and carried on board in carry-on baggage. (Removed batteries are considered spare batteries; see relevant regulations.)

In quantities not exceeding 2.5 kg per person, when used to refrigerate perishable and non-hazardous items, it is not subject to regulations, whether in carry-on or checked baggage. It is permitted in checked baggage, provided the package is capable of releasing carbon dioxide. Checked baggage must also be labeled with the presence of "dry ice" or "solid carbon dioxide" and the net weight of the dry ice.

In line with our Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments, ITA Airways is dedicated to protecting biodiversity and promoting wildlife conservation. These efforts align directly with the objectives of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
To support this mission, ITA Airways has joined the “Humane Society International” campaign and banned the transport of all hunting trophies, including individual animal parts. This ban applies to all flights, in both cargo and passenger baggage.
ITA Airways also supports the two bills currently before the Italian Parliament that establish zero tolerance for the import, export, and re-export of these items. This aligns with the direction set by the European Parliament resolution.

When carried in checked baggage, the following rules apply:

• The device must be completely turned off (not in sleep or hibernation mode).
• Measures must be taken to protect the device from damage and to prevent accidental activation.

Exceptions for devices containing only small batteries:

• Lithium metal batteries: maximum 0.3 g lithium content
• Lithium-ion batteries: maximum 2.7 Wh nominal power

A power bank is a portable, rechargeable device designed to power other electronic devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and cameras.

Permitted Quantities and Capacities

• Each passenger may carry a maximum of two power banks, regardless of their capacity (Wh).
• Power banks with a capacity from 100 Wh up to a maximum of 160 Wh require prior approval from the airline.
• All power banks must clearly indicate their capacity (Wh) to be permitted on board.

Transportation Methods

• Power banks are not permitted in checked baggage.
• They must be carried on your person (e.g., in a pocket or shoulder bag) or in your carry-on baggage.
• They must not be placed in the overhead bins; instead, they should be stored in the seat pocket or in a bag under the seat in front of you.

For safety reasons, when carried in carry-on baggage, power banks must:

• Be protected from short circuits (e.g., in their original packaging, with isolated terminals, in individual plastic bags, or in hard cases).
• Be protected from accidental activation
• Be kept away from other batteries or flammable materials (e.g., perfumes)

Use on Board

• Power banks must not be used during the flight to charge personal electronic devices.
• Power banks must not be charged using the aircraft's power supply.

Exception

• The use of power banks is permitted exclusively for charging portable medical electronic devices (PMEDs).

Safety deposit boxes, including similar items containing dangerous goods such as lithium batteries and/or pyrotechnic materials, are totally prohibited.

PROHIBITED

Self-balancing devices or personal mobility devices powered by lithium batteries are not permitted for transportation, even if the battery is disconnected or removed, such as Airwheel, Solowheel, etc. 
Except for passengers with reduced mobility who use self-balancing devices for medical reasons: in these cases, authorization must be requested from the Assistance team at least 48 hours before departure.

Samples can be stored in small quantities of flammable liquid. No more than 30 ml of liquid solution in any single container and no more than 1 liter for the entire container.
