To join the Program you need to subscribe through the ITA Airways website . Enrollment in the program is always free, and each member can withdraw at any time and without incurring any costs. Deletion of your profile will take effect immediately and unused points will be lost.

Members’ access to the Exclusive Clubs will take place upon reaching the necessary points threshold.

• Club Smart: no minimum score threshold.
• Club Plus: starting at 30,000 qualifying points.
• Club Premium: starting at 60,000 qualifying points.
• Club Executive: starting at 90,000 qualifying points.

Access to the subsequent club, once the minimum point threshold has been reached, is automatic after being recorded by the system and announced to the member.

You will also receive your Volare card by email. In addition, it will display your Volare code. Please note that the Volare card for members belonging to Smart, Plus and Premium Clubs is issued digitally, not physically. Only members belonging to the Executive Club will have a physical copy of the Volare card.

It is possible to certify the status in ITA Airways by showing your digital Volare card, which you received via email, visible in the ​personal area since it has the value of certification of the membership Club for any access/use of the services reserved for it.

Ensuring the security of each Volare member's personal information is a priority of the program. For this reason, it is necessary to update the password that is associated with the Volare profile every 6 months. After logging in for the first time, Volare members will be able to automatically update their password, which must include:

• 8 characters minimum
• One lowercase character
• One uppercase character
• One number
• One special character

At this time, it is not possible to merge two or more accounts in order to transfer points. If you have deleted one or more accounts, the points associated with the deleted account will also be deleted and can no longer be recovered.

All Plus, Premium and Executive members are entitled to free pre-allocation of a seat in the area of the aircraft reserved for their respective Club membership. You can select your favorite seat in the following ways:

When purchasing the ticket, you can select it online, on the ita-airways.com website and on our app, or through travel agencies, ITA Airways airport ticket offices.

After purchasing your ticket, you can select it during online check-in (starting 48 hours before flight departure and 24 hours before for flights to/from the USA), at the airport (before the flight, at check-in desks).

Yes, on all flights operated by ITA Airways. Codeshare flights operated by other carriers are excluded.

All Plus, Premium and Executive members are entitled to a dedicated baggage allowance.

When you check in online, you can add free baggage by logging into your personal area. Alternatively, present your card at check-in at the airport.

The air fare is divided into three components: ticket (net fare), fuel surcharge (YQ/YR) and taxes and charges. Based on the first two components, ticket and YQ/YR, 10 points will be credited for each euro spent on each coupon flown (basic credit) for flights sold and operated by ITA Airways. The crediting basis for additional services is 10 points for every euro spent. Accelerators set for purchasing additional services do not apply to the purchase of airline tickets.

There is an important difference between the types of Volare points you can earn. In fact, Volare points are divided into:

Qualifying points: these are obtained by purchasing flights both sold and operated by ITA Airways or through airline partners that have signed a Loyalty agreement. Qualifying points allow you to upgrade to the next Club level or maintain your membership on an annual basis. Qualifying points expire at the end of the current year.

Non-qualifying points: These represent the points balance that can be used to redeem flight rewards in Cash&Points mode, Award Ticket and for the purchase of products/services from our commercial partners, are valid until the end of the Volare program. They are obtained through the purchase of flights both sold and operated by ITA Airways, ancillary services and services offered by business partners or through airline partners that have signed a Loyalty agreement. They do not contribute toward upgrading or maintaining your membership in the Club you currently belong to.

There are four categories of accelerators that act cumulatively and without order of priority. Accelerators will allow the Volare member to earn more points depending on:

• Club Category: 0% Smart, +10% Plus, +20% Premium, +30% Executive.
• Network Category: 0% Domestic, +10% International, +20% Intercontinental.
• Cabin category: 0% Economy, +20% Premium Economy, +50% Business.
• Category Fare: 0% Light, +20% Classic/Saver/Base, +30% Business/Flex

Accelerators only apply to tickets sold and operated by ITA Airways and not to ancillary services. For more information on accelerators, please ​visit the link.

Yes, flights sold and operated by ITA Airways and also purchased and flown from October 15, 2021 contribute to the collection of points for the Volare program (according to the rules set out in the regulations) for all Members already enrolled in the program at the time of the booking and flight.

Members must be enrolled in the Volare program before flying in order to accumulate points. Please remember to enter your Volare code when purchasing or booking your flight or when checking in. If you do not enter your card number, you can still request points through the "Request points" function available in your personal area.

Additionally, please note that, in order to enable the automatic crediting of points, also on flights operated by airline partners with whom a Loyalty agreement is in place, you must enter your Volare code at the time of purchase and/or during flight check-in.

The member must use their Volare Code during the booking or check-in phase to obtain automatic crediting of the points.

In the event that the member does not enter their Volare Code or if the points credited do not automatically appear two weeks following the date of the flight, they can request the crediting of points relating to ITA Airways flights through the "Request points" feature. The member can submit a request in their personal area by clicking on the "​Request Points" section and entering the remaining 10 digits of the ticket after the code 055.

The Volare member can also request the crediting of points for flights sold and operated by airline partners that have signed a Loyalty agreement. For more information on the airline partner “Claim Points” feature, please visit the dedicated "​Request Points" page or the ​ airline partner page.

Currently, points can be used to purchase ITA Airways tickets in Award Ticket, Cash&Points mode, as well as additional services such as Seat Choice, Baggage and Lounge at the time of booking or later by contacting the ​Customer CenterThe link will be opened in a new browser tab. From 1 April to 30 June 2026, you may instead convert them into a Voucher (Gift Card Volare), which may be used by 30 June 2026 to purchase tickets on www.ita-airways.com to fly with ITA Airways and partner airlines within the following 12 months. 

Check the points available in your ​balance: the minimum points that can be used by a member is 1/20th of the cost of the ticket after taxes and applicable fees.

Cash&Points mode refers to the option available to members logged into their personal area whereby they can use their accumulated points to purchase one of the rewards, paying in full or even partially with points. In the second case, the difference will be paid with currency. Taxes must be paid in currency and cannot be paid with points. Payment can only be made by credit card.

No, this is not possible. The member will not be able to accumulate points on the purchase of tickets made in Cash&Points mode. This means they will not get points on the part of the ticket paid in currency.

Yes, is it possible to purchase baggage and/or lounge access with points, either when booking the flight or by contacting the Customer Center.

Yes, it is possible. If the conditions for a refund are met, the refund will be issued using the same payment method as the original purchase (Points, cash, or a combination of Points and cash, with airport taxes always refunded in cash). If the refund is made, in whole or in part, by re-crediting Points, the Member will see the updated Points balance in their Points wallet as soon as technically possible. The chance to use Award Tickets is reserved for members of the Volare program: you can use them to fly with ITA Airways and with selected partner airlines.

Yes! You can book your Award Ticket in Economy, Premium Economy or Business class, depending on availability and your chosen destination. In addition, depending on your Volare Club membership and/or chosen class you can access exclusive benefits such as Lounge entry or extra baggage.

Award Tickets are subject to availability depending on different fare levels. Some flights and booking classes may not always be available. We recommend you always check the solution best for you in the dedicated section of your Personal area.

With an Award Ticket, the cost of the flight is shown in points instead of in euros. If your points balance isn't enough to cover the full cost, you won't be able to settle the difference with other forms of payment.

With Cash&Points you can use both points and money to buy your ticket, choosing how many points to use depending on how many you have and covering the rest of the cost in currency. The cost of an Award Ticket, instead, is shown in points, and only taxes and ancillary charges need to be paid in currency.

Yes, the cost of the ticket must be fully covered by your Volare points. However, airport taxes and charges must always be paid in currency.

No, you can also use your points to fly with selected ITA Airways partner airlines, buying the ticket entirely with your Volare points.

At the moment, you can use your Volare points to travel with the following airlines:

• Brussels Airlines (SN)
• Lufthansa (LH)
• SWISS (LX)
• Austrian Airlines (OS)
• United Airlines (UA)

You can obtain a €100 Gift Card Volare by converting 50,000 non-qualifying Volare points. This option is available from 1 April to 30 June 2026. Only one voucher can be requested per transaction, but you can repeat the transaction as long as you have sufficient points. You will receive confirmation of the conversion and the voucher number via email.

All members with a balance of at least 50,000 non-qualifying points can request a voucher. 

The voucher is not personalized; it can be used by anyone who receives it to choose a destination via the Italian market website or the ITA Airways app. Flights must be purchased in euros and depart from Eurozone countries.

Once the points have been converted and you have received the code, the voucher is immediately active and ready to use.

The voucher is non-refundable, even in cases of loss, theft or damage. It cannot be blocked, refunded or replaced.

To use the Voucher (Gift Card Volare), select the flights you are interested in and any additional services (during the booking process) on the ITA Airways Italy website and the ITA Airways App. Once you have made your selection, simply enter the Voucher (Gift Card Volare) details during the payment step.

If the booking amount is equal to or greater than the voucher value, the voucher will be used in full. Any remaining amount must be paid using another accepted payment method, such as a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express), additional Gift Card Volare (up to a maximum of three, only if they cover the total ticket value), discount codes or another accepted method. The voucher (Gift Card Volare) cannot be combined with PayPal or with other payment methods linked to loyalty programs. Any remaining balance will stay on the voucher (Gift Card Volare) and will remain valid under the same conditions.

Any remaining balance will stay on the Gift Card and can be used for additional flight bookings within its validity period.

In the event of cancellation of flight-only tickets paid in full or in part with a Voucher (Gift Card Volare), the applicable fare rules will apply. If the ticket is refundable, the amount will be refunded to the original form(s) of payment used. Any portion paid with a voucher (Gift Card Volare) will be re-credited to the same voucher, provided that the voluntary cancellation is made before the voucher’s expiry date. After the expiry date, it will no longer be possible to re-credit the amount paid with the Voucher (Gift Card Volare). 

In the event of schedule changes or flight cancellations initiated by ITA Airways, the airline’s policies will apply. The portion of the ticket paid with a Voucher (Gift Card Volare) will be refunded in the form of a travel voucher.

The collective perception of ITA Airways as the country's national airline will also be strengthened by further consolidating the Company's already strong position on the Italian market and LHG's global leadership, promoting growth on the Italian market.

The acquisition will allow ITA Airways to become an increasingly modern premium airline centered on the Fiumicino hub, Italy's premium airport and a point of excellence worldwide. The growth of FCO will be complementary to LHG's existing brands and hubs, and will be profitable for all the stakeholders involved due to Group synergies that will allow more efficient fleet organization and exploitation.

ITA Airways and Volare have enter into agreements with 4 airlines of the Lufthansa Group: Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines. The mutual agreements entered into at this stage regarding earning and using points will not imply the entry of ITA Airways into the Star Alliance.

Volare members may earn Volare points (both qualifying and non-qualifying) if they have purchased a plane ticket with one of the following codes as the first three digits of the ticket number: 055 (ITA Airways), 220 (Lufthansa), 724 (SWISS), 257 (Austrian Airlines), 082 (Brussels Airlines). For the purpose of earning Volare points, the itinerary must be exclusively operated by the aforementioned airlines.

You can earn Volare points on flights operated by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines. At this stage, it is not possible to earn Volare points on Air Dolomiti, Eurowings and Edelweiss Air flights.

Yes, Volare members can earn both qualifying and non-qualifying points on flights operated by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines. Qualifying Volare points will be counted towards renewing or maintaining membership of the current Volare Club.

Yes, you can request the retroactive crediting of points in your personal Volare area. The request will only be valid for flights made from February 3, 2025, the start date of the Loyalty Program agreement with these companies.

To complete the request, you must provide the following information:

• Ticket number;
• Airline that operated the flight;
• Flight number and date;
• Details relating to the travel class, cabin, airport of departure and airport of arrival.

The request must be sent no later than 6 months from the date of the flight.

"Minimum Score" is the minimum threshold of points associated with each booking class guaranteed to Volare members. This is applied whenever the calculation, relating to the distance travelled and the points multiplier, is lower than certain set thresholds.

The minimum score for earning points is calculated as follows:

• First, base points are calculated by multiplying the distance flown (Ticketed Point Mileage, or TPM) by the multiplier associated with the ticket booking class.
• Subsequently, the result of this calculation is compared with the minimum score expected for that booking class.
• If the result obtained is lower than the minimum score established, the minimum score will still be credited, thus guaranteeing a basic earning of points regardless of the distance actually flown.

Example 1:

• Ticketed Point Mileage (TPM): 250 miles
• Booking class: Economy Y (multiplier 150%)
• Calculation: 250 * 150% = 375 points
• Minimum score for Economy Y: 500 points
• Result: 500 points will be credited.

Example 2:

• Ticketed Point Mileage (TPM): 500 miles
• Booking class: Economy Y (multiplier 150%)
• Calculation: 500 * 150% = 750 points
• Minimum score for Economy Y: 500 points
• Result: 750 points will be credited.

The Minimum Score has been introduced to guarantee Volare members a minimum points value.

Yes, the Minimum Score applies to both flights operated by the four airlines (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines) and to flights operated by ITA Airways, provided the plane ticket has one of the following codes as the first three digits of the ticket number: 055, 220, 724, 082, 257.

The Cash&Points mode may be used on routes operated by the Lufthansa group, gradually made available on the ITA Airways website, to fly - as from the 2025 summer season - to selected destinations in the European network. During the year, further routes will be made available, including intercontinental ones.

For the moment it will only be possible to earn Volare points by flying with Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and United Airlines.

For the time being, Volare members will not receive the "Silver" and "Gold" benefits recognized by the Star Alliance.

From September 8, 2025, Volare members can earn Qualifying and Non-Qualifying Volare points when flying with United, whether for tickets issued with 016 (United) codes or those with 055 (ITA Airways) codes: you must enter your Frequent Flyer card number when booking or checking in for the flight.

Volare members may also apply to redeem their points directly through the call center.

Yes, you can request the retroactive crediting of points in your Volare personal area. The request will only be valid for flights taken on or later than September 8, 2025. To complete the request, you must provide the following information:

• Ticket number;
• Airline that operated the flight;
• Flight number and date;
• Details relating to the travel class, cabin, airport of departure and airport of arrival.

The request must be submitted no later than 12 months after the date of the flight, and in any case within the dates of validity of the Volare program.

No, retroactive crediting cannot be requested regarding tickets for flights taken with United prior to September 8, 2025.

Volare members belonging to the Premium & Executive Clubs, flying on a flight operated by United, will be able to access the airline's lounges along with a travel companion.

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until March 30, 2026 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by ITA Airways.

It is not possible to earn points with airlines that are not part of the Lufthansa Group. Agreements with the following airlines have ended:

• Air France
• Delta
• KLM
• Korean Air
• Middle East Airlines
• Virgin Atlantic
• Saudia

It is still possible to request retrocredit of Volare points for flights operated by these airlines within the time limits established for each carrier.

Aerolíneas Argentinas:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until March 30, 2026 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas may refer exclusively to flights taken within the six months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to November 15, 2025, the date on which the partnership with the airline ends.

Aeromexico:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until December 31, 2025 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Aeromexico.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Aeromexico may refer exclusively to flights taken within the six months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to November 15, 2025, the date on which the partnership with the airline ends.

Air France/KLM:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until March 30, 2026 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Air France/KLM.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Air France/KLM may refer exclusively to flights taken within the six months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to November 15, 2025, the date on which the partnership with these airlines ends.

Air Europa:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until March 30, 2026 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Air Europa.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Air Europa may refer exclusively to flights taken within the six months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to November 15, 2025, the date on which the partnership with the airline ends.

Korean Air:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until March 30, 2026 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Korean Air.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Korean Air may refer exclusively to flights taken within the twelve months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to October 25, 2025, the date on which the partnership with the airline ends.

Middle East Airlines:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until December 31, 2025 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Middle East Airlines.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Middle East Airlines may refer exclusively to flights taken within the twelve months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to November 15, 2025, the date on which the partnership with the airline ends.

Saudia:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until March 30, 2026 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Saudia.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Saudia may refer exclusively to flights taken within the six months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to November 15, 2025, the date on which the partnership with the airline ends.

Virgin Atlantic:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until December 31, 2025 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Virgin Atlantic.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Virgin Atlantic may refer exclusively to flights taken within the twelve months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to November 17, 2025, the date on which the partnership with the airline ends.

Delta:

Retrocredit requests may be submitted until March 30, 2026 included, by which date they must be received and credited in the system.

After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain Volare Points for flights operated by Delta.

Retrocredit requests for flights operated by Delta may refer exclusively to flights taken within the twelve months prior to the date the request is submitted, and in any case no later than flights operated up to August 31, 2025, the date on which the partnership with the airline ends.
