Green Fare: travel with ITA Airways while supporting climate protection projects
In line with the objectives set out in European regulations, achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 is an ambitious goal that ITA Airways and Lufthansa Group are pursuing with a solid and continuous commitment. This path translates into targeted actions to reduce the environmental impact of our flights, such as introducing next-generation aircraft with improved fuel efficiency, using sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs), and continuously improving operational efficiency.
With Green Fares, you can do your part too. These fares already include a contribution designated to supporting projects that help reduce CO₂ emissions and are available on domestic, European, and selected intercontinental routes.
By choosing a Green Fare, you can also benefit from additional advantages, such as earning extra Miles and Points.
In Italy and Europe
By choosing Economy Green or Business Green fares, you contribute to financing initiatives aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions through measures implemented on future flights and by supporting climate protection projects. The estimated per-passenger share of emissions related to flights comparable to the one purchased will be offset through a combined approach: 20% of the estimated emissions will be reduced by using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on future flights, while the remaining 80% will be offset by supporting certified climate protection projects.
In the rest of the world
Green Fares are also available on many intercontinental routes with some exceptions (flights to/from Japan and from the United States, and Canada).
By choosing Economy Green, Premium Economy Green, or Business Green fares on these routes, you help support environmental protection projects through your journey. In this case, the estimated per-passenger share of emissions related to flights comparable to the one purchased will be offset through a combined approach with different percentages: 10% of the estimated emissions will be reduced by using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on future flights, while the remaining 90% will be offset by supporting certified climate protection projects.
Green Fares already include your voluntary contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions and are not an additional service, but actual fares, just like Economy, Premium Economy, and Business.
