Flying from Brindisi to Valencia: tips and information for your trip

Spain's third largest city, after Madrid and Barcelona, Valencia is an increasingly popular destination for international tourism. From the jewels of antiquity such as the Cathedral where according to scholars the true Holy Grail is kept, to hyper-modern ones such as the City of Science and Arts by the archistar Santiago Calatrava, in the Spanish city there is no shortage of attractions. And neither of good food and fun: only here you will find the original paella, which you can enjoy in one of the many cafes of the picturesque Bairro del Carmen before immersing yourself in the wild nightlife. And for a summer of sun and sea in Valencia you will find beaches for all tastes, such as the comfortable and well-equipped Playa de Las Arenas, the crowded Playa del Malvarrosa or the relaxing Playa El Cabañal-Arenas, surrounded by palm trees and restaurants.

Below are some tips on what to do and see on a trip from Brindisi to Valencia.

        What to see in Valencia

        • Cathedral - It is the most famous historical monument in the city. Built on the old mosque of Balansiya, Valencia Cathedral is a mix of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles that also distinguish the three gateways: the baroque Puerta de Los Hierros, the Romanesque Puerta del Palau and the Gothic Puerta de los Apostoles. Inside the cathedral, in addition to Goya's paintings, the most precious jewel is a cup, the one that according to many scholars was used by Jesus during the Last Supper: The Holy Grail. Finally, climbing the spiral staircase of the Miguelete bell tower you can admire the city from above: a sight not to be missed.
        • City of Arts and Science - The Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciènces is the hyper-modern masterpiece of the most illustrious Valencian architect, Santiago Calatrava. A real city of the future with four striking buildings on the bed of the Turia river: the giant eye of the Hemisfèric, the Palacio de las Artes, the Museo de las Ciencias in the shape of a dinosaur and the Oceanogràfic, the largest aquarium in Europe that houses more than 45,000 marine animals. Without forgetting the Umbracle, a futuristic 300-meter walkway on which 50 species of exotic and Mediterranean plants reign, home to exhibitions, displays and nightlife.
        • Mercado Central - It is one of the largest markets in Europe, enclosed in modern Spanish architecture, the result of the work of architects Francisco Guardia and Alejandro Soler. Inaugurated in 1928 by King Alfonso XIII, in its 8000 square meters it houses over 1000 stalls where you can find any kind of food. The exceptional flavors, the many colors and the persuasive scents make this attraction a favorite among tourists.
        • Lonja de la Seda - From one market to another, in front of the central market in modern style you will find the ancient Silk Market, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, at the center of the commercial and cultural activities of the sixteenth century. It is here, in fact, that merchants met for bargaining and purchases of goods, especially silk. The elegant and impressive market consists of four parts: the Hall of Columns, which is the actual square where the trade was carried out; the consulate of the sea, a kind of court; the patio de los naranjos, which is the interior garden.
        • Barrio del Carmen - It was a refuge for Muslims, barracks, a place of recreation for the medieval aristocracy and a working-class neighborhood. Today it is simply the hub of the city's social life: during the day thanks to the many restaurants and shops - from those for alternative shopping to the ateliers of the big brands - and at night for the favorite places of the nightlife, such as those in Plaza del Doctor Collado, Plaza del Negrito or Plaza del Tossal. Calle Quart, Calle Carnicero and Calle Bolseria are the most popular destinations to enjoy an excellent paella or good wine
