ITA Airways for Sustainability

Fly with SAF

ITA Airways’ commitment to promoting female talent in the aviation sector was highlighted through a dedicated communication initiative featuring Captain Francesca Longhi as its ambassador. Captain Longhi is the first woman to have successfully completed the airline’s new Command Training Program. On the occasion of Women's Day – 8 March 2022 – her letter dedicated to the dreams of little girls, and to the ambitions and determination of women in pursuing and achieving the goals of their lives, was the subject of a communication campaign in the main national newspapers in Italy.

To promote female leadership within the company, ITA Airways supports IATA’s “25by2025” campaign, a global initiative aimed at addressing gender imbalance in the aviation industry. The initiative seeks to increase the number of women in senior leadership positions and underrepresented areas by 25%, or to a minimum of 25%, by 2025.

Data published in the 2024 Sustainability Report shows that women account for 32% of first- and second-line management positions, while 44% of the company’s workforce is female.
