Earthquake emergency in Syria and Turkey

A dad and his daughter waiting to receive treatment. They have escaped death, but they have lost everything – 6 February 2023, Azar, Aleppo province

EARTHQUAKE EMERGENCY
CHILDREN NEED URGENT AID

On the night of 6 February, when most people were asleep in their own homes, a violent earthquake hit a zone on the border of Syria and Turkey, causing a natural disaster. The numbers of dead and injured, already very high, continues to grow.

We know that the first hours are vital in order to save as many lives as possible.

We are already on the spot and we have started to:

·    Supply first aid kits to treat the wounded

·    Distribute drinking waterfood and blankets

·    Set up shelters for families that have lost their home and have nowhere to stay

We deployed all our available resources immediately, but we need further funds so we can send humanitarian aid to deal with the urgent needs of children and families.

The gravity of the situation is made even more pronounced by the intense cold.    It is a race against time to save as many lives as possible.
